My first Midas was a Mark 2 Bronze specification kit (one of the first of this spec) made in the Corby factory. I saw the Midas on display at a Kit Car show in Olympia, London in late 1983 (I think). Once the shell was in my garage I was lucky enough to find a written off 1275GT Mini with rear end damage. This I used as the main donor vehicle and managed to retain the original registration number GBW662L rather than getting a Q plate. I had this car for several years and used it as my daily to work transport, it had a rear seat which my then young son was happy to use. I eventually sold the Midas and it has since been re-sprayed red and is currently (summer 2023) being re-built by Craig Scarborough.

My second Midas was a red Gold Convertible. This was the original Corby factory demonstrator that had the shell written off by one of the car magazines that had it for review. The demonstrator was re-shelled at the factory and the original registration was retained F418XBD. The damaged shell was then repaired in the factory by some of the employees and registered as Q352LFL. I used this car as a summer fun car. I had to do a fair bit of work on it over the years including a full re-spray, making front hood mountings and fitting proper boot hinges instead of external ones. I sold it in 2002 to a dealer from Sussex just prior to moving to Spain.

My third Midas is another Gold convertible. I purchased this one in June 2023 and this one will feature in the Latest Changes section of this website as I update it and make it more to my liking. It was built in 1990 by a mechanic with the Benetton F1 team and was one of the first of the cars built by the Pastiche firm who took over production from the original Midas company.
